Unplayable performance is still unplayable, and you'll still need to lower settings to get something playable. The 5-10% range is far more common, and 1.5-3fps isn't a noticeable change.
Amd radeon r9 200 series driver crash driver#
Again, whether you're getting 30 or 40 fps hardly matters, and that would be a major improvement in terms of driver optimization (~33% uplift). So it comes back to: is it likely that future driver optimizations would have significantly impacted performance in future games for these GPUs? I don't think so. So, while it's definitely poor timing in both the ways mentioned (the GPU shortage and FSR launch), poor timing doesn't affect the outcome of the change - which is ultimately very little.

FSR is dependent on game implementations, right? So it should work on older AMD GPUs regardless of the driver.
Amd radeon r9 200 series driver crash Patch#
I've heard of a recent patch to the Intel 915 driver, and imagine how old that is!Ĭlick to expand.I just think that's a rather simplistic take. Enjoy your cards however you can, plan an upgrade for when the market situation improves or your bank account doesn't feel it too much, or take the opportunity to learn something new and try Linux out. Since the thread started, lots of evidence that FSR works on any hardware and any driver as long as the game itself can run, and I even tried it on my 3090 with great success, so I suppose that the matter is settled. Earlier GCN generations have been stable in their operation for some time, earlier this year I had a Sapphire R9 280X Toxic in my hand (fine card, I must say) which I flipped to be able to afford my 5950X, and within its limitations (doesn't run DX12 games, for example), it's actually quite stable and performs to the fullest i'd say GCN can reasonably perform to. I think it's safe to say that what bothers people the most isn't that AMD dropped these cards, it's how they've done it. I don't quite know how i managed to get such a top tier PC, I am not rich.įollowed the posts debating here, and well, I just have one last thought to pitch in.
